Freshman year of college, my friend convinced me to take an aptitude test at the career center.
I agreed just for kicks, but part of me was hoping this $10 test would help me figure out what to do with my life.
Afterwards, I sat down with an advisor and the printed results. She explained that my top three career matches were:
- Broadcast Journalist
- Chef
- Professional Librarian
I explained that:
- I have issues with teleprompters.
- I once tried to make peanut butter by combining peanuts and butter (probably around the same time the above photo was taken, but still...)
- I didn't know that was a thing.
So, back to square one. All I knew was I've always enjoyed writing. My interest in journalism in high school led me to explore screenwriting and copywriting in college. And I've always appreciated a good haiku.
In addition to writing, I enjoy rooting for (and having my heart broken by) DC sports teams and the Miami Hurricanes. I also love attending concerts of all different genres. My first concert was ZZ Top. And by ZZ Top, I mean N*Sync.
Finally, I have extremely strange dreams featuring angry camel gangs. More on that here.
